Adenomyosis (sp?)--and the mirena iud? - uterine adenomyosis

I received the diagnosis of adenomyosis (endometriosis of the uterine lining) by ultrasound. I am eager to have another child, but I am suffering from secondary infertility. However, if the children are our future, I'll take care of adenomyosis. My doctor told me that Mirena can relieve pain, and almost took my period. Can anyone confirm this from personal experience (or know someone who this? Has Suffered) Are there any side effects of IUDs should I know?
